SMC Entry Confirmation — Complete Guide
Master entry confirmation techniques in SMC. Learn LTF CHOCH, displacement, candle confirmation, and grading setup quality.
What is Entry Confirmation?
Entry confirmation is the final trigger that validates entering a trade after reaching your Point of Interest (POI). In SMC, you don't enter just because price touches an OB — you wait for confirmation that smart money is reacting.
Confirmation Methods
1. LTF CHOCH (Best)
1. Price reaches your HTF POI (OB, FVG, etc.)
2. Drop to lower timeframe (M5/M15)
3. Wait for CHOCH in your trade direction
4. Enter after the CHOCH
5. Stop: Beyond the CHOCH swing point
This is the HIGHEST CONFIDENCE confirmation.
2. Displacement + FVG Creation
1. Price reaches POI
2. Strong displacement candle appears (Marubozu-like)
3. Creates a new FVG in your direction
4. Enter on retracement to the new FVG
5. Shows institutional commitment
3. Candle Confirmation
- Engulfing pattern at POI
- Pin bar/rejection at POI
- Strong close in your direction
- Weakest form of confirmation (use with confluence)
Confirmation Hierarchy
| Rank | Method | Confidence | R:R |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | LTF CHOCH | Highest | Moderate |
| 2 | Displacement + FVG | High | High |
| 3 | Engulfing at POI | Moderate | Moderate |
| 4 | No confirmation (risk entry) | Low | Highest |
