Price Action Entry Models — Complete Guide
Master precise entry techniques: Risk Entry, Confirmation Entry, and Break-Retest Entry. Learn when to use each model for optimal R:R.
Entry Models Overview
Entry models are specific techniques for timing your entry after identifying a valid setup. The right model maximizes R:R while minimizing stop-out risk.
Three Core Models
1. Risk Entry (Aggressive)
- Enter immediately at zone (limit order)
- No candle confirmation needed
- Best R:R (1:3 to 1:5)
- Lower win rate (~45-55%)
- Use with 5+ confluences
2. Confirmation Entry (Standard)
- Wait for rejection/engulfing candle at zone
- Enter after candle close
- Good R:R (1:2 to 1:3)
- Higher win rate (~55-65%)
- Use with 3-4 confluences
3. Break-Retest Entry (Conservative)
- Wait for LTF structure shift (CHOCH)
- Enter on retest of broken structure
- Moderate R:R (1:1.5 to 1:2.5)
- Highest win rate (~60-75%)
- Use for counter-trend or uncertain setups
Model Selection Guide
| Situation | Model | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Strong HTF confluence zone | Risk | Trust the level |
| Moderate setup | Confirmation | Balance R:R & win rate |
| Counter-trend | Break-Retest | Maximum safety |
| Scalping | Risk/Confirmation | Speed needed |
| Swing trading | Confirmation/B-R | Time allows patience |
