Tweezer Tops & Bottoms — Complete Guide
Master Tweezer patterns — double rejection signals at the same price level indicating strong reversal potential.
What are Tweezers?
Tweezer patterns are 2-candle patterns where both candles test the same high (Tweezer Top) or same low (Tweezer Bottom) but fail — creating a double rejection at the same price level.
Tweezer Bottom (Bullish)
- Two candles with matching lows (same support level)
- Both wicks reject the same low
- Signal: Double rejection = strong support, buyers stepping in
- Best at key support levels
Tweezer Top (Bearish)
- Two candles with matching highs (same resistance level)
- Both wicks reject the same high
- Signal: Double rejection = strong resistance, sellers defending
- Best at key resistance levels
Psychology
- Price tested the same level TWICE and failed both times
- This creates a very strong rejection signal
- Think of it as the market saying "NOT going past here"
- Two failures = much stronger than one
Trading
- Entry: After second candle closes (direction confirmed)
- Stop: Beyond the tweezer level (the matching H/L)
- Target: Next opposing level
- Stronger when combined with other confluences (S/R, OB, Fib)
- The tighter the matching level, the more precise the pattern
